Well....another 18 months gone by and I haven't been out once. COVID, pain, feeling rough....all contributed as to why I've not done a lot. Kept my hand in at home with knots, whittling etc, but also learned how to design and produce on a 3018 and now a 3040 cnc machine. Turned a load of gnomes, xmas trees etc. Must make an effort when it gets a little easier to get out in the woods and smelll some smoke.
A few pcs of stuff made this year as yet

Hi all,
Just realised it's been almost a year since I wrote anything. I have still been doing stuff even though walking, etc, has been quite hard.
I've not been good and struggling to get out and about as the arthritis meds stopped working so I was taken off them. Now on a new one so hopefully I'll be out in the woods, using the quad and riding the Harley soon, making some new videos for YouTube and keeping up with the BushcraftUSA certification.
Pleased that a friend that I taught the bow drill and fire lays to has now had 3 books published:
1) Bushcraft - The Bow Drill Bible
2) Bushcraft - The Hand Drill Bible
3) Bushcraft - Kuksa Carving
all available on Amazon by Leigh-Robinson (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Leigh-Robinson/e/B07JWJK1FV/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1)
Personally I've been attending some classroom courses to keep me and my brain busy including amongst others:
Basic guitar playing (know several cords etc)
Printing
Environmental art
Gypsy painting
Basket weaving
etc
Remember even though the legs may not be working to well, the minds still active and you can still do stuff...AT YOUR OWN PACE!!Keep at it and keep the old skills alive, Remember to pass them on to the kids and grandkids, as they will take the skills forward to the next generations ensuring they are not lost as several have been through time so we now have to guess what tools were for and how they were made.

Still here
Hi all. Just realised how long its been since I wrote on here. Been rough but done bits including one stroke painting, gypsy painting, making money boxes, etc.
Trying to get out but after losing half my thyroid and all my arthritis meds stopped, I have been so stiff and in pain for the last 18 months that I am struggling to move,
Good news is they may be starting again soon so back out on the quad and getting in the hammock again.
Whittling here we come

Hi all
Unfortunately not good again but have added some vids about sharpening with poor grip, etc. on YouTube (Reduced Mobility Bushcraft)
Hoping to get out more when I can walk better again.
Meanwhile have a look at the Met Office Cloud weather guide and pronunciation. Enjoy

Update
Wow. Just realised how long it's been since I updated.
I've passed the intermediate certification from BushclassUSA and am pleased to say that someone from the UK was the 1st to pass the Advanced (well done John Fenna).
Loads happening including a new UK Bushcraft Level 1 award and Level 2 certificate I'm hoping to deliver from one of the leading UK adult education providers.
Still playing down the woods and blacksmithing and now trying to turn on a metal lathe.
The quad makes it loads easier to get to the woods but Arthritis limits it unfortunately,
Speak soon, Kev.

New woods to meet in
Wohoo.
I've been allowed to use 6 acres of woods local to me to pursue the Bushcraft stuff
It's well overgrown and has limited access routes into it but the wildlife find loads of ways in.
It's brill being able to light fires, track a few deer. etc there.
A few pics

New folding trivet and Bushclass USA certification
I have passed the Bushcraft USA basic certification at BushclassUSA and am well on the way to intermediate certification.
(Update....Now at Intermediate yehay)
You have to do loads of basic stuff like knots, fire, tarps, tree id, etc, etc
Heres my new badges. I'm well happy
Just made some new bits up as well
here we go:
This is the prototype . I prefer to just coat it in vegetable oil so it seasons with use
You can fold it flat
or take it to bits (3 bolts) - Don't worry the legs and sides that join are marked with the same number of dots (either 1, 2 or 3) - It will have new bolts. I just had these to hand
and it weighs in at..................about 550grams (1lb 1/4 in old money) and its not even titanium
though it has a 17cm side length
I can add 2 cross bars but it adds to the weight obviously
Opps forgot tosay it will hold a tree hehe
Hope you like it
