Working in the forge

As you may know, I enjoy making stuff and so love playing with my forge.

Here's a few bits I've made recently

Including my newest bit, a folding Trivet

most people prefer them just given a coating of vegetable oil.
I also spray them with 3 coats of a matt heat resistant paint

and here's a Dutch oven lid lifter I was asked to make for someone

Fire Tripod, Pokers and a pot/kettle hanger
All twisted together and fold flat

The top of the tripod is forged closed - not bolted

and of course, I make the pot hanging S hooks as well

The bottom S hook

Square poker with twist

Got to have a matching poker
and nearly everything benefits from a decorative twist or two

A twist in square bar
Twist in round bar (secret how to get it to show.....The Blacksmith Guild told me)

  This is a pot/kettle hanger

Round pot/kettle hanger

which looks like this standing up ready for a fire to be built under the hook

Square pot/kettle hanger with twist

I did this fence down Hunstanton in 1999 (I took the picture recently as I never bothered 11 years ago)

Its here if your passing Cliff Terrace - The sea end
